Various surveys have been bandied about in the legal profession about young lawyers wishing to work flexibly and the reasons behind very high levels of attrition rates from the top firms. Back in 2004, when the debate was hotting up due to the introduction of the "Right to Request" flexible working under the Employment Act 2002, the Young Solicitors Group decided to run a conference addressing the issue and to write articles about it in their magazine.
I wrote an article: "Why Flexi Works" looking at the different types of flexible working arrangements, such as part-time, job-share, flexi-time, which may work in the legal profession together with the reasons for introducing it and the benefits to the firm and the individual.
