Clients include law firms both within the City and in the regions. Specific consultancy projects with Law firms include the following:
• Working with a City firm wishing to retain their talented lawyers. This firm was experiencing a high level of attrition and needed assistance in determining which roles within their specialist areas could be offered to existing and new lawyers on a flexible working basis.
This project included advising the firm on the wider issues of introducing flexible working including the I.T. issues, change management, team working and individual training requirements.
• A medium size law firm in the West End required help in attracting highly talented lawyers from their competitors both from the City and with other firms in the mid-tier of firms.
This included devising a flexible working policy and strategy to retain their existing talented lawyers in a highly competitive labour market. This firm was specifically targeting disgruntled lawyers from other firms who wanted a better work life balance than they were currently experiencing in their own firm.
• Working with a large regional firm to reconfigure the way the office space was laid out in order to create greater opportunities for inter-departmental team collaboration and exchange of opportunities for cross-selling business services.
This included assisting the firm to determine whether there was scope for introducing more flexible working practices. The workplace was reconfigured to enhance productivity, facilitate greater creativity and better team working i.e. creating the optimum workplace for each particular team of lawyers both within their specialism and across project teams.
Advising individual lawyers
In their applications to their firms for a flexible working arrangement under the “right to request” legislation set out in the Employment Act 2002 and pursuant to various other legislation e.g. Time off for dependents and so forth.
Expert Witness
We have also been instructed by both law firms and individuals as an expert witness to write a report and provide expert evidence on cases involving the right to request a flexible working pattern.
