And why she is so good at Flexible Working.

Anna Kavanagh ((B.A.) Hons Business), Dip Law, qualified as a solicitor with Trowers & Hamlins; on qualification, she moved to Simmons & Simmons.

Since leaving Simmons in 1998, Anna has worked as a management consultant. She specializes in advising businesses and individuals from all sectors on flexible working or “advanced working” i.e. the continuum of work styles that allow people and their organizations to choose where it is best for them to work to facilitate a variety of corporate, team and personal needs arising from their work and workplace.

Bullet Point This consultancy work includes:

assisting organizations in assessing the appropriateness and viability of advanced working in meeting the overall aims of the business
analyzing a variety of job roles within an organization to determine which are suited to different ways of working both within the office and externally from other locations such as other client offices, satellite offices, whilst on business trips or home working. Within the office a range of flexible working options are analyzed and assessed e.g. compressed hours, part-time, remote working, home working etc;
Advising on the legislative framework surrounding flexible working i.e. the employment legislation as well as health & safety legislation;
Advising on different aspects of supporting advanced working e.g. maximizing the utilization of the workspace, technology requirements, change management, management skills, infrastructure requirements, policy requirements and so forth.

As of December 2007, Anna is in the process of furthering her academic skills and Law knowledge, studying for a Masters Degree in Law in context including diversity and equal opportunities in the workplace.

Anna’s management experience includes 9 years in the Territorial Army as an officer, including being head of adventure training organizing expeditions. She also obtained a commission in the Army.

This army training included:

Leadership
Management
Team building skills.

Anna is a mother to three children: Tierney (9), Conall (7) and Erin (6).

Anna is a keen sailor and skier and enjoys traveling and reading.
